Youth Baseball Coaching Video – Drop Step Outfielding Drill

Here’s a great drill for coaching youth baseball. The focus is on helping young players to react to a fly ball in the outfield. Make sure your kids start in an athletic ready position, take a decisive drop step, find the ball, and THEN get underneath it to make a play.

Baseball Throwing Drills Video

Try this throwing drill with youth baseball players. It helps train your kids to get the ball out of the glove quickly and make a play on defense. Focus on grabbing the seams as you extract the ball from the glove, which will allow for a more accurate, higher speed throw.

Once your players are comfortable with the mechanics of the drill, have them partner up and sit 5 feet apart. Over time, increase the distance, to 10 feet, 15 feet, 20 feet and so on. This will also improve their arm strength and throwing mechanics.

Baseball Pitching Drills For Kids

Try thise one-knee follow through drill with pitchers aged 8-15. It will train young baseball pitchers to develop a safe, fluid pitching motion. Accuracy, velocity, and confidence on the mound will also improve if you practice this pitching drill on a regular basis.

Baseball Swing Mechanics Video

In this video, we review a very common swing mechanics error that many youth baseball players make. It’s called the “Swing Bubble”, and results from casting the bat out towards the baseball.

To correct, this mistake, focus on putting the knob of the bat toward the front toe, and sweeping the plate… making sure the sweet spot of the bat comes through the hitting zone with the timing to make solid contact. Watch the hitting video for step by step demonstration and drills.

Baseball Drills Video – Fielding a Ground Ball

Here are some great tips to remember when teaching your kids how to field a ground ball.

First, start low, stay low and release the ball from an athletic position. To increase the speed and accuracy of the throw, follow through by continuing steps toward the target after the ball is released.

Avoid taking extra steps and try to get the ball out of the glove and into the throwing hand as quickly as possible. Watch the video below for some great drills to help teach this critical infielding skill.
