Hoosier (Pitchers and Catchers)

Purpose:

Pitcher and Catchers practice fielding comebackers and making plays at second base

Setup:

• Line of Pitchers at mound
• Line of Pitchers at second
• Line of Catchers at home plate

Phase 1

1. Pitcher delivers ball to home plate
2. Catcher throws ground ball directly back at pitcher
3. Pitcher clears mound and throws to 2B for simulated force play
4. Return ball to Pitcher and reset

Phase 2

1. Pitcher delivers ball to home plate
2. Catcher rises and throws to 2B to catch simulated baserunner stealing
3. 2B catches ball and applies tag
4. Return ball to Pitcher and reset

Phase 3

1. Pitcher delivers ball to home plate
2. Pitcher delivers ball to home plate
3. Catcher rolls out squeeze bunt.
4. Pitcher fields bunt and flips ball to Catcher for simulated play at home plate.
5. Rotate positions and repeat phases 1-3
