In today’s video blog post, we are talking about the Three Phases of Pitching Mechanics, from both the windup and set positions.
The Three Phases of Pitching Mechanics
From the windup position:
Preparation – Involves a rocker step which starts the rhythm process. There are critical fundamentals involved in this, but you don’t want to coach the style out of that pitcher unless it’s creating balance problems. We allow each pitcher to have their own particular style.
From the set position:
Preparation – Involves comfort and getting into a stance that allows the pitcher to have comfort. His rhythm will come once he starts into the delivery phase.
The second and third phase of either the windup or the set position should be identical. The real difference is in the preparation phase.
