Try these [tag]baseball coaching tips[/tag] with your younger players. These [tag]baseball drills[/tag] help them learn to work as a team and improve basic baseball skills.
Making it Fun (kids like this)
Divide the kids into two equal [tag]baseball[/tag] teams if possible.
Pretend that your in a volleyball court, but a little bigger(set cones if you want)
Kids are in ready position, team #1 vs team #2. The players will throw line drives, popflys, groundballs, etc. If the receiving team misses the call or the ball, other team gets a point.
For pop-ups a player must call it. Line drives must be reasonable and playable. They must quickly move for those groundballs with other players backing them up. They also learn to play together as one team.
Here’s another warm up [tag]baseball drill[/tag] I’ve been using indoors to get the kids moving while applying some baseball skills.
Two lines about 8-10 feet apart. First in line face each other. They shuffle together down the floor in good fielding position. While they shuffle, they roll a ball back and forth fielding it barehanded. We look for good form, hands fielding out front, glove hand down, other hand covering over top. Ball comes up to chest before rolling back to partner. After shuffling down and back (players get to shuffle to the right and left), they hand the ball to the next pair in line.
