Here are a couple of [tag]baseball hitting drills[/tag] which work well with your youth teams. Use these [tag]baseball drills[/tag] and you’ll be amazed how quickly your players will improve their hitting skills.
We have a [tag]baseball drill[/tag] to help kids that are having trouble with the grip on the bat and turning your hands over. You need an axe handle and small whiffle balls. You do soft toss using the axe handle as your bat. The skinny part of the handle forces you to put your knuckles together properly. Plus, if you don’t roll your hands at contact, it is hard to hit a small whiffle ball with the skinny side of the handle. And you also have to aim small.
This coaching drill is to help prevent pulling the head out.
Have the batter stand at the plate in his normal stance. The [tag]baseball coach[/tag] stands across from the batter.
The coach will throw tennis balls at the batter’s belt. The batter will have to watch the ball and hit it toward the infield (as normal). The tennis balls will not hurt the player and their focus on watching and hitting the ball is tremendously increased.
This [tag]baseball[/tag] drill has converted the worst player from pulling their head.
