One of the [tag]baseball infield drills[/tag] I use that helps players with fielding ground balls properly and works on getting them in front of ground balls is a [tag]baseball drill[/tag] I call the “Baseball Passing Drill”. I call it this because it is similar to a drill I do in basketball.
Break your kids into groups of 5 or 6 players.
You will have 1 fielder and 5 players throwing ground balls.
The five players are in a line about 5 feet apart from each other.
The 1 fielder will start by fielding a ground ball with his bare hands from the first player and flip it back to him.
He will then shuffle his feet to get in front of the second player who will throw a ground ball to him.
He will go up and down the line two or three times and then rotate players.
The set-up is like this:
