Purpose
This is a great pitching drill that is used to work on throwing a curveball, although it can be used for other pitches as well. The pitcher will focus on throwing over the broom.
Breakdown
In this pitching drill, the coach or another player will hold the broom stick up, parallel with the ground.
The pitcher will focus on extending his arm up to the height of the broom when pitching, and feeling the arm up and getting on top of the curve ball.
Once the pitcher has extended his arm up to the height of the broom stick, he then pulls down quickly to execute a curve ball pitch.
You can also use this same broom stick drill to work on the fast ball, by focusing on getting the arm up and then coming straight down hill on the release.
