Stop n Go base running drill
Objective: to get the kids to listen to the [tag]baseball coach[/tag]’s voice when they are running the bases.
– Have them all start at home plate. When you say “Go” they run around the bases. Inevitably, the kids get spread out as some are faster than others. When you say “Stop”, they have to get to the closest bases. It usually works that the kids get spread out. When kids are in the middle and they hear “Stop” they have to choose which base to go to or go back to.
– It has been working well.
– I also try and get a parent to stand at each base on the outside of the base. They get the kids to give them a high five as they pass the base. This gets the kids used to the idea of touching each base.
