I’m often asked for ideas for [tag]youth baseball fun drills[/tag]. Here’s a [tag]baseball[/tag] [tag]drill[/tag] sent to me by Pat that will pay huge dividends with your team.Youth Baseball Fun Drills

From Pat…
Here’s a [tag]conditioning[/tag] drill the players have come to name “Bubba”.   For the life of me, I don’t know why, and don’t want to know.  This baseball drill is meant for conditioning and reaction.

The players get a partner and stand approximately 25 yards away from each other, so you have two lines facing each other.  One line sits on the floor or ground, and on [tag]coach[/tag]’s signal gets up and sprints to his partner, slaps his hand then sits down again.  The partner [tag]sprints[/tag] down to where his partner started and sits.  The first partner then stands and sprints to his partner as soon as the partner sits down and again slaps his hand.  Each partner does this 3 times.  Then, with out a pause, they do it from a lying down position on back 3 times, then from stomach 3 times.  Each partner does it 9 times total.  All the while they are verbally encouraging their partner while their partner is running.

This is great for simulating [tag]sliding[/tag] into a base and popping up and running to the next base when the ball gets away from the [tag]fielding[/tag] team on a base stealing attempt.
