In today’s video blog post, we are talking about a great pitching mechanics drill that actually uses a bat! It’s called the “Bat Behind the Back” drill.
“Bat Behind the Back” Pitching Mechanics Drill
The player starts out with a bat behind his back, and he places his hands on both ends.
He’s going to start to move his body through his wind-up, transfer step, and pivot into his gathered position.
As he’s in the gathered position, you want to pretend you have a flashlight, and that there is a total dark lane and the longer he can point downrange, the better off he’s going to be because it’s going to assure him that he’s closed.
Once he releases and goes forward, he’s going to thrust his hips through the zone to make sure he’s utilizing every part of his body.
