In today’s video blog post, we are featuring an excellent hitting drill set that will develop and increase your hitters bat speed.
Drop Ball Hitting Drill
- The coach should stand right in front of the plate and drop the ball.
- The hitter will react and try to hit the ball.
- The coach can hold the ball for longer and shorter periods of time to test the hitters attention and response.
Extreme Ball Hitting Drill
This is a variation of the Drop Ball Drill
- In this drill, you will use a dowel or similar piece of wood with a round diameter, and a whiffle ball.
- The coach should stand right in front of the plate and drop the ball.
- The hitter will react and try to hit the ball.
Tee Stopwatch Hitting Drill
- The coach (or a partner) starts the stopwatch as soon as the hitter begins to move. (The hitter moves on his own command, not a coach command.)
- Stop the stopwatch when the ball hits the net.
- Try to swing faster, and improve your time with each swing.
- When you find that your time is increasing, take a break and then repeat the drill.
