The best time to teach the basic fundamentals of baseball is when your child is still young, especially if they already demonstrate a natural flair and talent for the sport. Young children's minds are like a sponge in that they have an astounding ability to absorb and retain knowledge.
There are many different skills to work on at each baseball practice that from time to time certain essential ones are forgotten about. In this case I'm talking about the double play. A double play can completely turn around a game's momentum and provide the necessary push in the right direction towards a more positive spirit and attitude. By running these free baseball practice drills that focus on the double play at your next practice it will get your players into the mindset where double plays happen, which can indeed transfer into game play.

Try this drill as you're coaching little league baseball. One of the common throw out plays that needs to be made is from right field to third base. A runner on first base will try to beat the tag.

This is a great baseball training drill to build hand-eye coordination, quick reaction and to teach older players the value of knocking the ball down at all costs.
